The FieldScope team has released a new suite of updates to the platform intended to enhance your experience in working with FieldScope. These updates include:

• Adding Hyperlinks to Data Story Descriptions
• Enhancements to Embeddable Data Stories 
• Updating Your User Profile 

Adding Hyperlinks to Data Story Descriptions 

When any signed in user creates and saves a data story (also called Visualizations), they have the option to create informational text that viewers of their data story will see. This informational text is great for communicating trends, patterns, or results in the data displays, or for giving people instructions on what they can do with your data story. 

In the above example, a user has added informational text to their data story, including a hyperlink at the bottom to another website—in this case a FieldScope help article. You can access this editing area and add text and hyperlinks by clicking the “i” icon that appears to the right of the data story / visualization name. Read more about customizing visualizations.

Enhancements to Embeddable Data Stories 

An improved layout design and new features were added to embeddable data stories that users may choose to post to external websites that they manage. For information on how to embed data stories in websites, check out the Sharing Visualizations Outside of FieldScope article.

Data stories with multiple visualizations have a new layout that avoids squished displays and constrained maps or graphs. Also, viewers of an embedded visualization can easily read additional info you have added to it. They can also access the full version of the visualization to dig deeper into the data being displayed. 

Updating Your User Profile

When logged in, you can now edit your user profile, including updating your email or changing your chapter affiliation (for FrogWatch members). You can also add a custom, unique username.

Access the user profile editing screen from the Account Settings option in the menu accessed from the top right whenever you are logged in to FieldScope.
